AL-MUSTAQBAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HOSTS THE FUTURE FORUM FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

AL-MUSTAQBAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
On the occasion of World Food Day, which coincides on the 16th of October, and as announced by the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), Al-Mustaqbal University College organized the Future Forum for Sustainable Agriculture on Saturday 15th October 2022.
It should be noted that the Forum has been organized under the guardianship of His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Mr. Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, under the slogan

“Sustainable Development of Agriculture is the Route towards Achievement of Food Safety & Eradication of Poverty”
We are obliged to note as well that the Opening Ceremony of the Forum has been attended by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Sahar Al-Jubouri, the Administrative Deputy of the Ministry of Agriculture, in addition to Dr. Salah Al-Haj, the FAO Representative in Iraq, and the directors of specific Government Departments, including those of Agriculture, Irrigation as well as Planning.
Among those who attended the Forum are the Deans & Academics of the University of Babylon and Al-Qasim Green University, along with the Director of the Industrial Development in Babylon, a representative of the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, Tribal Sheikhs, farmers, owners of agricultural projects, including feed factories, agricultural nurseries, fertilizer and palm textile factories.
The Forum organizers have emphasized that the eradication of hunger and poverty is a moral and humanitarian responsibility, based on the fact that food is one of the basic human rights. Accordingly, all Governments, Organizations, Universities and Companies should work together to effectively transfer knowledge, exchange experiences, and most typically invest resources, establishing meanwhile programs with innovative ideas that lead to reducing hunger and eradicating poverty.
Besides, it is remarkable to note that the Forum has included three main issues:
1. Development of Sustainable Agriculture
2. Impact of Climate Change on Food Safety
3. Agricultural Investment & its Role in Securing Food Safety
As a final conclusion of this Forum, a draft of a Cooperation Agreement has been written between FAO and Al-Mustaqbal University College, which aims to establish Study Fields in the Middle Euphrates Region, being under the auspices of Al-Mustaqbal University College.
In the end, we should state that the forum events and activities have been covered by a large number of media professionals and satellite channels.
